CargoBeacon Carrer

CargoBeacon will always be scouting for talented individuals. Below, current opportunities for employment and degree projects are listed. Starting off with a thesis work has proven to be a good way of getting to know each other better before an eventual employment.

If you can’t find anything that suits your profile, don’t hesitate to contact us and send us your application. Unless there are not any current openings we are happy to save the application so that we may contact you when future opportunities arise.

Are you a great person who think CargoBeacon seems like an awesome company? Super! We are a young company with many gaps to fill! Then send us your CV, a motivation what you would like to help us with and why you would like to do it and we promise we’ll get back to you.

What skills do you need to have?
– Of course, that depends on what you want to work with. But, there are a few things that we especially love:

  • To perform work that actually makes a difference
  • An open mind set with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Individual drive but at the same time also to love team work
Design a low-cost wireless device that provides historic and real time sensor data. Sensors will include time and temperature information but other sources might also be interesting. The sensors could be powered by one of or a combination of energy harvesting from solar panels or vibrations, alternatively a simple coin-cell battery. The exact details will be decided together with the applicant and based on current customer requests.

What skills do you need to have?
Most importantly, we are looking for new colleagues in potential thesis workers. Simply put – nice people. But there are some attributes and competencies that are needed for the thesis work:

  • Preferably pursuing a M.Sc. degree within Communication Engineering, Technical Physics, Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Experience from ECAD software such as Altium or similar.
  • Knowledge and interest in one or more of the following keywords: digital and analog design, RF-design, design for test/production,
  • Bluetooth low energy, energy harvesting, solar powered devices, industrial IOT, low power systems.
Basically you could say that the CargoBeacon concept consists of four different software entities requiring different competencies. Some common denominates is that we use strict version control for all source code and that we encourage development of automated tests for all software modules. Development is ongoing in a fast pace so please get in touch with us to discuss your interests.

The logger device contains embedded software written in C.
Some keywords describing development for the logger device are C, arm cortex, debugging, Bluetooth low energy, I2C, SPI and sensor programming.

The app, which obviously requires app developer competency. Today all code is natively written in Java and objective C. Some keywords describing development for the logger device are .

Web backend and front end. The web backend is hosted using open source software on virtual machines allowing redundancy both in hardware and software and forming a system that scales well from simple customer trials up to millions of simultaneous connections. The front end code relies on Angular 2, a java script framework, written by Google which provide responsive web-applications supported by multiple platforms. Keywords describing development on backend and front end are Linux, XEN, mongoDB, Angular2, git .

  • Pursuing a M.Sc. degree within Software Engineering, Technical Physics, Systems Engineering or similar.
  • Experience and a great interest in one or more of the technology keywords mentioned above.
Develop the concept for an additional environmentally friendly, easy to use logger solution. An analysis needs to be conducted to understand all parts of the system and how to design them in best possible way for making a sustainable product, both in terms of economics and in terms of the environment. In economics lies, among other things, cost of goods, cost of manufacturing and assembly.

Other topics could involve analysing best applicable methods for measuring and logging acceleration in different environments. The exact details will be decided together with the applicant and based on current customer demands and the applicant’s previous knowledge.
